The Vault

Files in your Vault are encrypted in your own browser before they ever leave your computer, under a passphrase that FastDrive itself never receives and never stores. We hold only the scrambled result.

Because of that, there is no “forgot password” for the Vault — losing both your passphrase and your recovery code means those files cannot be recovered by anyone, including FastDrive. Keep the recovery code somewhere safe, separate from the passphrase itself.

A Vault can additionally be locked to specific internet addresses — your office, or a fixed VPN exit — so that even a stolen passphrase is not enough on its own; it also has to be used from somewhere you named.

A Vault file cannot be put behind a public share link. There is nothing FastDrive could safely hand out a link to, since it never holds the key.
